How LuxeBeauty Co. Went From 1.2x to 4.2x ROAS After the iOS 14 Update

LuxeBeauty Co. is a direct-to-consumer beauty brand that came to us after Apple's iOS 14 privacy update quietly wrecked their Meta Ads tracking. Their ROAS had dropped to 1.2x — essentially break-even after ad spend — and their team couldn't tell which campaigns were actually working anymore, because Meta's reported conversions no longer matched what was showing up in Shopify.

The real problem wasn't targeting — it was blindness

When ROAS drops, the instinct is usually to blame targeting or creative fatigue. In this case, the campaigns weren't actually performing that badly — Meta just couldn't see most of the conversions happening. Client-side pixel tracking alone had become unreliable across a meaningful share of iOS traffic, and the account's optimization algorithm was making decisions on incomplete data. It was optimizing itself blind.

What we did

  • Rebuilt tracking with a full Conversions API (CAPI) implementation, server-side, deduplicated against the existing browser pixel
  • Restructured audiences around the newly-accurate conversion data instead of the old, degraded signal
  • Ran a structured creative testing cycle — five new ad concepts against the existing top performer, cut weekly based on cost-per-purchase

The CAPI rebuild came first, deliberately. Restructuring audiences or testing new creative before fixing tracking would have meant making decisions on the same broken data that caused the problem in the first place — a common mistake we see: agencies react to a ROAS drop by throwing more creative variations at the account without checking whether the account can actually measure what's working.

The result, six weeks later

  • ROAS: 1.2x → 4.2x
  • Cost per purchase: $68 → $28
  • Monthly revenue: $45K → $180K

The revenue jump looks dramatic, but most of it wasn't new demand — it was Meta finally being able to see and optimize toward the demand that was already there. Fixing tracking is rarely the exciting part of a growth engagement, but it's very often the highest-leverage one.
